The block that isn’t there

Below this paragraph is a recipe card. In the database, it is one self-closing HTML comment carrying an ID and two booleans. Not one character of the card's markup is stored anywhere.

Strip HTML comments — the ordinary first step of any Gutenberg converter — and the card vanishes with no error and no warning. Crawl the rendered page instead and you recover the HTML, but you freeze the serving count forever and lose the scaling.

The strip above is the same problem compounded: dynamic, and non-deterministic on top.
